Missouri Place Stories (photo narration project)

This project archives photo-narrations produced by Missouri residents who have been asked to reflect on meaningful places in their neighborhood in the context of long-term changes in the natural and built landscape. Prior to recording their narratives, participants learn how the history of their neighborhood has been influenced by human action and environmental transformations. Participants then use the mobile app, Pixstori, to create and submit their place stories. Through an interactive map, their contributions can be shared with neighbors and become the basis for community discussions. By making available these diverse voices and perspectives, this project aims to encourage historically-informed and socially-inclusive sustainability activity and planning at the local level.
